As President of TALI, I want to welcome you and give you a brief synopsis of our next conference, the “International Conference of Investigative Associations” or ICIA. Held on the famous River Walk in San Antonio, this conference is truly one that our profession hasn’t experienced before. We are inviting board members, delegates and representatives from all state, national and international investigation associations to join us for some Texas hospitality! Delegates will participate in round-table discussions about key issues affecting our profession and receive additional perks to take back to their respective associations.

We will have 4-seminar tracks to choose from including Forensics, Business Operation, Expert and General Investigations. This conference is also a “vendor driven” conference where vendors will provide seminars that answer many of the “how to” questions and will provide continuous exposure to their tremendous services.

Our Friday night event will be held at the Buckhorn Saloon and Museum and the Texas Ranger Museum. The first 150 to register get a free 1-day pass on the river taxis, and the excitement will continue with special gifts, give-aways and door prizes. Among many of the other benefits, you will also receive 5 digital books on investigative topics valued at more than $100, and another huge bonus — All attendee’s to the 2012 ICIA will receive a NEVER-before-released piece of investigative software from Joe Seanor. This is a brand new piece of software that Joe says you will use every day in your office and will help you with your cases! And Joe also said “I love programs that generate a report for you automatically!” So, come to the 2012 ICIA, and get your TALI-only software from Joe Seanor for FREE.

The Friday evening event will be held at the famousBuckhorn Saloon & Museum that is also next door to the Texas Ranger Museum. Both venues have been rented and dinner will be served at this location. There will be several bars and food stations throughout the venues to refresh food and beverages as the attendees walk and enjoy the sites (all indoors). The Buckhorn Museum & Saloon is within walking distance of the hotel. However, there will be air conditioned trolley type buses running between the hotel and the Buckhorn.

For over 129 years, The Buckhorn Saloon has always been known as a gathering place for good conversation, great food and spectacular wildlife exhibits. Today, the saloon houses a Café, Gift Shop, Shooting Gallery and our two museums, the Buckhorn Museum and the Texas Ranger Museum.

The Buckhorn Museum features wildlife from all over the world; including fish, birds, and animal oddities. Our exhibit halls are comprised of over 520 species of wildlife, many of which are record holders.

The Buckhorn is home to a world record whitetail deer, the famous ‘78 Point Buck’. This impressive rack was sold to the saloon owner himself, Albert Friedrich, for a mere $100 dollars back in 1890. Other amazing specimens include a record 1,056 pound black marlin and a 10,000 year old pre-historic Irish Elk skull and antlers.

The Texas Ranger Museum, houses hundreds of Texas Ranger artifacts including revolvers, automatic handguns, sawed off shotguns, badges, photographs and much more. Notable Texas Rangers exhibited in the collection include, Ray Martinez, Joaquin Jackson, John B. Armstrong and Frank Hamer.

The highlight of the Texas Ranger Museum is ‘Ranger Town’, a recreation of San Antonio at the turn of the century. Explore this western town complete with a saloon, jail, blacksmith shop and telegraph office. The Bonnie and Clyde exhibit complete with a ‘34 Ford V8 Deluxe is a guest favorite.
