New GCIS Intel Chief Breaks Barriers; First Woman to Head Agency Started Her Job This Week

LOS ANGELES — She keeps the secrets of the agency.

It is said she is able to thwart any cyber attack against Griffith Colson Intelligence Service (GCIS) with the C.A.T.S. (Cyber Assault Tactical Service) unit she developed during her time as deputy director of cyber security at GCIS.

Some people are nervous that she will shake things up a little as she brings some of her own people into her inner circle.

Kayla Cohen became Director of GCIS this past week , replacing founder and director W. Edward Griffith as chief,  as she assumes the Directorate of the agency with an aggressive business plan.

Already she has shattered two major precedents: She is the first woman to head the agency, and she has also become the youngest, in her late twenties. Alysyn Griffith, served as acting-director for one month when her husband took a leave of absence in 2010.

She  is neither the diplomat for the public oriented person the former director was. In fact, she plans to be more cagey and less the headline grabber, say friends close to her.

“Director Cohen believes GCIS needs to operate more behind the scenes in order to reestablish security protocols that make the agency effective”, says one insider.

Cohen credits W. Edward Griffith with building GCIS into a leader in the intelligence communications industry during his reign, which began in 2007. But she also admits she’ll be doing things a little bit differently. She built the GCIS C.A.T.S. unit with more than 80 cyber operatives on Facebook alone, and intends to increase that number as cyber security continues to be her focus. She is planning on budget expansion to expand the cyber unit to include her long held vision of a cyber and digital narcotics unit. She also intends to appoint more women to the highest posts of the firm.

Cohen is scheduled to attend a series of seminars and trade shows this year, including the Police-Security Expo in Atlantic City this summer.

Her official biography is listed at her page at GCIS HERE
